Zion’s Legacy of Love Delivers Holiday Joy to UNC Children’s Hospital

During the holiday season, Zion’s Legacy of Love continued its mission of compassion with a special Christmas toy delivery to UNC Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

This visit marked the organization’s second toy delivery of the day and carried deep personal meaning. For Zion’s mother, Myra Gibbs, UNC Children’s Hospital was where her son spent the final days of his life. Returning to that space during the holidays was both emotional and purposeful—an act of healing, remembrance, and love.

The delivery included an overwhelming outpouring of generosity from the community. Hospital staff received an estimated 1,000 toys, books, and teddy bears, all donated to bring comfort and joy to children spending the holidays in medical care. Each gift represented kindness, hope, and the reminder that these children are seen, valued, and loved.

Myra shared her gratitude for the hospital staff, reflecting on the care and compassion they showed her son during his last three days. That same gratitude now fuels her work through Zion’s Legacy of Love—transforming grief into action and ensuring that Zion’s loving spirit continues to touch the lives of other children.

The visit also marked a personal milestone. While returning to the hospital brought understandable anxiety, Myra described feeling stronger than the year before, encouraged by the mission she now carries and the smiles she was able to bring to young patients and their families.

Zion’s Legacy of Love was created in honor of Zion Gibbs, whose gentle heart and joyful nature continue to inspire the organization’s work. Through holiday outreach and year-round service, the nonprofit remains committed to spreading love, uplifting children, and honoring Zion’s memory through meaningful impact.

Zion’s Legacy of Love extends sincere thanks to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who made this Christmas delivery possible. Because of the community’s generosity, countless children experienced moments of happiness and comfort during the holiday season.
